The AI Doctor is not in

Like flying cars and jetpacks, robotic doctors are the stuff of many science fiction stories. And like flying cars and jetpacks, robotic doctors cannot be found. We are going to start a new series on why AI doctors are not here yet. In this series we will talk about:

• The technology needed for AI doctors to become reality
• What can we expect AI Doctors to do and not do
• Non-technical barriers to AI Doctors
• When can we expect AI Doctors?

Notice that I used two terms: "robotic doctors" and "AI doctors". The difference is that AI Doctors could be completely in software, like a giant brain in a jar. Robotic doctors are mechanical AI doctors that interact with people and can perform physical tasks like surgery and examination.
